About Creative Island Nakanoshima Executive Committee
An Island-Wide Creative Laboratory
Located in Kita-ku, Osaka, Nakanoshima is a 3-km east-west middle of Dojima River and Tosabori River. With its multi-layered history and culture, the city's functions are concentrated, Nakanoshima is full of the world's largest city center, such as Île de la Cité in Paris and Museumsinsel in Berlin. In this project, the Nakanoshima area is regarded as a creative laboratories (Creative Labs) with a sustainable arts and culture environment. Through field research by artists and collaborative programs with more than a dozen cultural institutions based in Nakanoshima, we aim to build a cultural network in Nakanoshima and rebrand cities through creative use.
