About Creative Island Nakanoshima Executive Committee

Located in Kita Ward, Osaka City, Nakanoshima is a 3km east-west Chushu located between Dojima River and Tosabori River. With its multi-layered history and culture, Nakanoshima is filled with the possibilities of a world-class central island (island) such as Île de la Cité in Paris and Museumsinsel in Berlin. In this project, the “Nakanoshima” area is regarded as a “creative laboratory” with a sustainable artistic and cultural environment, and various thought experiments will be conducted. Through field research by artists and collaborative programs with more than a dozen cultural institutions based in Nakanoshima, we aim to build a cultural network in Nakanoshima and rebrand cities through creative use.
