Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka is under construction for opening in early spring 2022. Mr. Katsuhiko Endo, the architect in charge of the design, and Mr. Jun Sato, the architect who supervised the structural design, talked about the construction of a new museum in Nakanoshima, where modern architecture is lined up.

Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka has a structure where Passage space intersects east, west, north and south from the first floor to the fifth floor. Contrary to the neat appearance of the black cube seen from the outside, the interior is made up of a very complex structure. In order to realize this characteristic space designed by Mr. Endo, Mr. Sato talked about the structural design that Mr. Sato worked on together with many drawings and images of valuable construction sites provided by Zenitaka Corporation, which undertakes construction. Was.

In addition, as an art museum that is in a position to protect important works, measures against earthquakes are of course being taken. A seismic isolation structure that simulates earthquakes that may occur on the premises many times, and withstands large earthquakes is adopted.

The internal structure is a part that will not be visible once the building is built, but it can be seen that it is exactly what supports it as a framework.

Due to the existence of faults and liquefaction phenomena, Nakanoshima calls even architects and structuralists "difficult places". It was a distribution that conveyed the passion of "Builders" to build an art museum there, along with valuable recording videos of construction, directly from professionals.
