Rika Noguchi (Photographer)
Photographer Rika Noguchi, known for his photographic works with a unique sense of distance from the subject, conducted research and photography while cycling around Nakanoshima many times by boat on foot. We plan "Nakanoshima Poster Project" to create an image poster that promotes Nakanoshima based on photographs taken from a unique perspective. From January to March 2020, the posters were scattered around stations and towns in Osaka and Kyoto, highlighting another Nakanoshima. The exhibition was also exhibited at "BUILDERS: Reconsidering The City Based on Construction Records".

Results and Challenges
Rika Noguchi's field research, which began with a tour of the Nakanoshima area to every corner of the alley, did not presuppose exhibitions and other presentations, followed in 2018 by bicycle, traveled several times from early morning to sunset, carefully searching for moments of shooting. Focusing on the people working in the Nakanoshima office, the people cleaning Nakanoshima Park, and the cleaning boat cleaning the two rivers across the Nakanoshima, I tried to capture the beautiful moment of Nakanoshima never seen. As a place to present the work that had not been photographed, we decided to develop a project called "Poster" which is a new attempt for Noguchi, rather than an exhibition of photographic works in gallery space.
The poster created an unexpected image by combining two vertical photographic works for station posting, which is different from the image of an office town lined with well-maintained parks and skyscrapers, "Nakanoshima that no one has ever seen."
Taking advantage of the characteristics of the operating organization of the Executive Committee, which has railways, posters were developed mainly at stations along the lines of Nakanoshima, Osaka and Kyoto, and sent to an unspecified number of people using railways. This time, despite a relatively limited scope for trial implementation, due to changes in the social environment caused by COVID-19 during the posting period, it was not possible to fully verify the results. In addition, public talks about the research process that was scheduled to be held during the period have also been postponed. We are trying to rethink our new development in the next fiscal year and beyond.
