The importance of discussing the ideal way of a sustainable future city, where more than half of the world's population lives in cities, is emphasized. In 2025, ten years after the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development/SDGs by the United Nations, the Osaka-Kansai Expo "Designing a Future Society that Shines Life" will be held. At the same time, the Nakanoshima Pavilion Festival 2025 will be held at Nakanoshima, a symbol island of the water capital Osaka, to maximize the charm and potential of Shima, which has historical culture and waterside environment, different from Kita and Minami.
Therefore, in the round table “Playable Island—Proposal of creative ideas to be implemented in Nakanoshima,” we aim to create opportunities to create shared experiences and approaches that lead to value creation on “Island” through “Play,” and invite younger generations to come up with plans to utilize public open spaces, boat transport and waterfront spaces. We hope that the consciousness and values of each of us will change our behavior, and we will be a gathering that contributes to the development of individuals from individuals to communities, as well as changes in regions and cities.
