"Fukakusa, which has an eternal history: charm of the area seen from the Kamogawa Canal"

"Keihan Line Cafe" introduces popular spots along the Keihan Line from the viewpoint of history and culture.
In the 6th session, we will focus on the Fukakusa area, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City, which is blessed with rich nature, as well as being known as a land with a deep history with many famous historical sites scattered around. One of the famous spots in the Fukakusa area is the Kamogawa Canal, which runs north and south through the central part of the area. The Kamogawa Canal is the name of the Lake Biwa Canal, which is about 9 km long from the Reizei spillway in Sakyo Ward to join the Horikawa River in Fushimi Ward.
With a history of more than 120 years, it is a valuable civil engineering heritage associated with modernization, and is closely linked to local living and nasty, and its accumulation forms value as a local resource. In the talk, we will introduce the charm of the Fukakusa area from various viewpoints, centering on the Kamogawa Canal.
