Lab Cafe / Project Meeting
Art Museum Now (13) ~ Chiba City Museum of Art ~

A dialogue series on the current situation that shakes the foundation of the museum, "seeing and experiencing live works," caused by the spread of COVID-19 infection. In the 13th session, we will invite Emiko Yamanashi, director of the Chiba City Museum of Art.
Chiba City Museum of Art opened in 1995 as a complex with the Chuo-ku government office in the city area. The collection has been collected and transmitted with the main pillars of "Japanese paintings and prints from the early modern era", "Contemporary art since 1945", and "Works related to Boso centered on Chiba City". In 2020, the 25th anniversary of the museum's opening, all the buildings on the 11th floor above the second basement floor were reopened as art museums. After adding permanent gallery space and workshop rooms, Emiko Yamanashi was appointed as the new director in 2021. Aiming for a museum where citizens think it is their own property, we started again.
In the talk, Mr. Yamanashi will introduce the efforts of the museum, which has been reopened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its actual situation, and future exhibitions, and will discuss the "now" of the COVID-19 pandemic and the future of the museum.
