What is "Railway Art Festival"?
Railway Art Festival is a Temporary Exhibition that has been held every year since 2010 in Art Area B1. "Railroad" has advanced technologies and attractions such as vehicles, railway maps, railway tracks, station buildings, platforms, etc., as well as culture and history associated with them. This project, which takes advantage of the characteristics of the station concourse, captures the appeal of railways and its related technologies, culture, history, etc. from various perspectives, and holds an experimental exhibition in collaboration with artists for 12 years.
"Recreation 2: The Future Starting with the Records of the Exhibition"
Since last year, Railway Art Festival has been developing a two-year project based on a 12-year record of vol.0-10. In the first year, a document exhibition was held entitled "Recreation-10 Dialogues surrounding the Records of Exhibitions". We invited experts from various fields such as editing, planning, archiving, media and contemporary art, literature, philosophy, and design as media partners for 10 dialogues, and discussed the themes and methods of archive for the second year.
This year, the second year, we edited archive footage of Railway Art Festival's exhibitions, talks, and train performances, and screened in Art Area B1 during the exhibition. In addition, we will invite curators, critics and researchers in their 20s and 30s who will lead the next generation as guests to hold a workshop to encourage them to review Railway Art Festival. We will explore the possibilities of contemporary art in Art Area B1 after the end of Railway Art Festival, so to speak, "NEXT Tetsugei".
*Details of guests and events will be released at a later date.
