At Railway Art Festival vol.10, Temporary Exhibition focused on the creativity of railways, we are developing a two-year project under the theme of "economics" that forms the basis of social systems. The title "GDP" originally means "Gross Domestic Product", which is an indicator of the economic power of the country, but in this exhibition, it is used as a collective term for "a wide variety of parties by Gonzo and dot" that will be developed to rethink the economy independently.
And the "party" here is a number of practices in line with contemporary critics and the spirit of creative play, referring to the indemnity and celebrations advocated by the French thinker Bataille, who questioned the economic rationality of today's profit-seeking type that emphasizes usefulness and productivity. In the first year, during the days when the social situation fluctuated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we conducted an exhibition experiment in which nine events related to the economy and parties were accumulated, and the exhibition space was structured and updated based on their traces.
This year, which marks the second year of production, explores the state of the economy from a unique perspective that utilizes the structure of exhibitions and film production. We will draw out indicators to overcome the current situation creatively.
