Railway Art Festival vol.10, a special exhibition focusing on the creativity of railways, has been developing two years of projects under the theme of "economics," which form the foundation of social systems. The title "GDP" originally means "Gross Domestic Product", an indicator of the country's economic power, but in this exhibition, it is used as a collective term for "a wide variety of parties by Gonzo and dot", which are developed to rethink the economy independently.
And the "party" here questioned the economic rationality of today's profit-oriented approach that emphasizes usefulness and productivity, and refers to a number of practices that follow modern criticism and the spirit of creative play, referring to the indemnity and celebration originally proposed by French thinker Batille. In the first year, during the days when the social situation fluctuated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we conducted an exhibition experiment in which nine events related to the economy and parties were accumulated, and the exhibition space was constructed and updated based on their traces.
This year, the second year of production, we explored the ideal way of economy from a unique perspective that utilizes the structure of exhibitions and film production. We derive indicators for creatively overcoming the current situation.
