In The National Museum of Art, Osaka, Special Exhibition "Emergency Normal" is held focusing on the modern era of emergency situations. We will explore the world where earthquakes, tsunamis, climate change, wars, economic crises, etc. are normalized through the works of contemporary artists, from the perspective of international disaster sociology.

Azusa Hashimoto (Hashimoto and Azusa)
The National Museum of Art, Osaka Senior Researcher. He specializes in contemporary art. Major exhibitions include “THE PLAY since 1967 Beyond the Unseen Flow” (2016, The National Museum of Art, Osaka), “Viva Video! Shigeko Kubota Exhibition” (2021, The National Museum of Art, Osaka, et al., co-organized, Ryoga Art Encouragement Award), and “Roppongi Crossing 2022: Orai!” (2022, Mori Art Museum, joint project) etc. He has authored "The Play: Beyond the Flow" (Suichosha, 2025) and co-authored "10 Contemporary Art Lectures" (edited by Masayuki Tanaka, Musashino Art University Press, 2017).

Professor, Graduate School of International Public Policy, The University of Osaka. After obtaining a PhD from the Graduate School, he was engaged in the activities of the international medical organization AMDA in Cambodia and Zambia, where he was involved in peacebuilding and development. He specializes in international politics and media research, focusing on the treatment of "global South" in Japanese international press. He is also a co-founder of SACCPS, a research network for peace and security in South Africa, where he manages the Global News View (GNV), which analyzes media biases and selective processes.
