It was built to commemorate the gift of from Sumitomo Group of "The ATAKA Collection" centered on Chinese and Korean ceramics, and opened in 1982. The Orient Ceramic Collection, which includes 2 national treasures and 13 important cultural properties, boasts one of the world's best quality and quantity. The environment for viewing such as the gallery space of natural lighting is also substantial.

Appearance

Nakanoshima Park is a space of greenery and water that spreads out in the city center of Osaka. Located in one corner, The Museum of Oriental Ceramics, OSAKA stands like blending into the rich greenery of the park. In the renewal in April 2024, in addition to the conventional robust atmosphere, a stylish glass-filled entrance hall was added. It has been reborn as a more open museum.

Treasure House of Orient Ceramics

As the name of the museum, many East Asian ceramics are held and displayed. The collections formed by the collection of Chinese and Korean ceramics from The ATAKA Collection, Korean ceramics from Li Byung Changi Byung Chong Collection, gift of works by Shoji Hamada, and Japanese ceramics are highly regarded in Japan and overseas.

Special display equipment

In the world's first natural lighting gallery space, you can see the original beauty of the work unique to that moment in the ever-changing light. In addition, we are particular about the exhibition facilities so that you can fully enjoy the original charm of ceramics, such as the latest LED lighting, seismic isolation stand, and rotary display stand.

Cafe

There is a cafe where you can spend a relaxing time while enjoying the view of Nakanoshima. There is also a limited menu with ceramic motifs held by the museum, which is popular. It is also possible to use the cafe only and take out (some).
