It was built to commemorate the gift of from Sumitomo Group in The ATAKA Collection, centered on Chinese and Korean ceramics, and opened in 1982. It boasts one of the world's leading quality and quantity in the Orient Ceramics Collection, which includes two national treasures and 13 important cultural properties. The environment for viewing, such as the natural lighting gallery space, is also substantial.

Appearance

Nakanoshima Park is a space of greenery and water that spreads out in the city center of Osaka. The The Museum of Oriental Ceramics, OSAKA, which stands in one corner, blends into the rich greenery of the park. In the renewal in April 2024, in addition to the conventional robust atmosphere, a stylish glass-walled entrance hall was added. It has been reborn as a more open museum.

A treasure trove of Orient Ceramics

As the name suggests, many East Asian ceramics are owned and exhibited. The collections of Chinese and Korean ceramics from The ATAKA Collection, Korean ceramics from Lee Bing-ye Byung-chan Collection, gift of from Shoji Hamada's works, and Japanese ceramics are highly regarded both in Japan and overseas.

Special exhibition equipment

In the world's first natural lighting gallery space, you can see the original beauty of the works unique to that moment in the ever-changing light. In addition, we are particular about the exhibition equipment so that you can fully enjoy the original charm of ceramics, such as the latest LED lighting, seismic isolation stand, and rotating display stand.

Cafe

There is also a cafe where you can spend a relaxing time with a view of Nakanoshima. There is also a limited menu with the motif of ceramics owned by the museum, which is popular. It is also possible to use the cafe only and take out (partly).
