Children's Book Forest Nakanoshima

Opened in July 2020 with the theme of "Knowledge Forest" where children can meet and interact with the appeal of high-quality and diverse arts and culture centered on the enjoyment of books and literature. Various cultural events utilizing books are held in a new way as a cultural facility instead of a library. Designed by Tadao Ando.

In the hall, the "Book Forest" has a book shelf with all the walls of the floor. No matter where you are, books on the wall cast their eyes on children, like trees in the forest that grow full of vitality. The book is divided into 12 themes and was designed by book director Yoshitaka Haba (BACH).

Large staircase

In the hall where you can start reading books anywhere you like, the large staircase like the roots of large trees is crowded with many people, and it is a popular spot where you can hold story-telling and events. The slightly deep space behind the stairs is a space that small children can enjoy.

Rest Room

A cylindrical space surrounded by silence. There, video works that will be the gateway to interest in books are screened. On the wall is a fragment of a story cut from several books. It has been devised to bring children to the world of stories.

SHOP

At the shop, we offer original goods and POPUP for a limited time. Among them, "blue apples" made in connection with Tadao Ando's "blue apples" object is a very popular original goods in collaboration with Pine Co., Ltd., which manufactures Pineapple Candy.
